Vacant retail center in Broward could be redeveloped as apartments

A vacant retail building in Sunrise that previously housed a BJ’s Wholesale Club could be redeveloped into an apartment complex.

The City Commission and its Local Planning Agency will both vote on the rezoning and multifamily development density applications May 28 for the 13.2 acre site at 8075 to 8099 W. Oakland Park Blvd. and 3447-3469 N. University Drive.

The property is owned by Sunrise by Luxcom LLC, an affiliate of Miami-based Luxcom builders.
